Serious business!

This may sound kind of obvious, but living on my own in a different country away from home is making me realize how dependant I've always been on the people around me back home. Before coming here, I'd never done my own laundry, had a job or even known how to properly prepare food that isn't pancakes or scrambled eggs!

These last two months I've been really trying to get my shit together and I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of things. Most importantly in this evolution: I have a job now! It's not a very impressive one, sure, but it's a job nevertheless! Starting December I'll be working as a staff member at an English café, which is a place where Japanese people can come to practice speaking English in a casual environment. Basically what I have to do is sit there and make conversation with customers in English. It's pretty simple. I'm paid 1000yen/hour (6.8euro), but I'm also hoping to start teaching English classes there, which would be 2000yen/hour. For the time being, I'm only working one day a week but maybe in the new year I might want to work more, we'll see!

Besides the café job I may be getting a part-time job at a kindergarten. It would be 2000yen/hour so I'm really hoping I can do it. I just haven't received all the information about it yet. I don't know where the kindergarten is or what exactly my job would be but I hope to figure that all out soon!

I spend quite some time at school in the International Department (国際部). This is the place where the international students can go if they need help with anything, where you can inquire about jobs as an international student and there's also a room where students from all nationalities can come together to relax.
At certain times in the week, some international students teach voluntary language classes to whoever shows interest. I've been going to some random classes, just to improve my skills. I've been doing French and Mandarin lately, but maybe I'll start going to German or Korean sometime as well...

My Chinese 妈妈 (mom) teaching me the important stuff: Who is your boyfriend? Chanyeol is my boyfriend! (I have no shame ><'' )

I didn't think there would be anyone with interest in learning Dutch, so I never applied to teach a class, but one day a Japanese student came up to me and greeted me saying "Aangenaam". Apparently he'd been learning some Dutch from a KULeuven student who went to Kansai University last year and he asked me if I could teach him more. When I told some of my other Japanese friends they seemed interested in learning as well so long story short: I've been teaching a Dutch class at school!

It's been really fun! Sometimes there's five or seven people, other times it's just two, but I'm acutally having an awesome time teaching. The classes are very chill and no-pressure because it's just friends among friends and it's so cool seeing people improve so fast (seriously my students are really good)!

Up until now I've taught them a self-introduction, greetings, a whole bunch of adjectives, basic verb conjugation, dit/dat/de/het/een, the singular and plural forms of nouns and some themed vocabulary.

That's what I've been up toat school!

Gotta go now~♥ Until next time!!
