✿Cherry Blossom Season in Japan✿

Once again, I'm pretty late in writing this but let's ignore that shall we? ^^

I'm pretty sure everyone knows about Sakura or Cherry Blossom trees. They are everywhere in Japan but you only notice this once they start blooming. This is why the beginning of the month April was so beautiful here. I'd seen these trees before in Belgium sometimes but experiecing Sakura season here in Japan was a whole new level of pretty!

The park next to my dorm is apparently a pretty popular spot to hang out during Sakura season since there's so many of the beautiful trees there. People have been telling me this since September and now I know why.

The blossoms only bloom for a few weeks as well, so you really have to make the most out of the time you have. That's why the parks are always packed during that period. When you have a pic-nic underneath the Cherry Blossom trees, it is called a hanami (花見), which literally translates to flower viewing. Everyone does it: families, friends, co-workers,.. everyone gathers beneath the trees for a bit of relaxing. It's really nice to see!

I met this dog at the park as well, who reminded me so of my own dogs that I got emotional!

We held a little hanami with our dorm as well, which was great. It was a great way to welcome the new people that have come into the dorm for the new semester. Me and my good friend Koni, stayed behind afterwards to take a crapload of pictures of the trees (which isn't a tourist thing by the way, everyone does it haha)

I really don't like these Japanese snacks. They're called dango and I love how they look! Not how they taste though. Actually they don't really have much of a taste. But they're made from mochi which makes the texture really sticky and heavy and honestly even thinking about it kind of makes me sick to my stomach, that's how bad it is for me haha

The trees look gorgeous at night as well!!! It doesn't even seem that dark because the rosey white petals light up the sky!

After one week of the trees' blooming, it started raining for a few days. This made the flower petals come down a little earlier than usual. But it did still look really really pretty!

It looks almost as if it has snowed doesn't it? I really loved it! The most beautiful of all, were the days when it was still sunny, but the flowers were twirling down already, like pink fluffy raindrops! It really felt - hang on, I'm going to sound nerdy here - like I was living in a Japanese slice of life anime! Everything just looks like a fairytale, I don't know how else to describe it. The pictures can't really showcase this propperly, but be sure to watch the video I included in this post!! You'll see!! :)

I took so many pictures in those few weeks, so I'm just gonna put some here! Most of the pictures below are from the park outside my dorm ^^

oh and I also went to Kyoto to go see the pretty trees around some of the famous temples there. But that will be for my next post!! ^^
